No matter which Boom-A-Rang restaurant you visit, you can be assured of two things: the food and the décor will be very similar to all of the other Boom-A-Rangs.
The oldest Boom-A-Rang is located on Eastside Boulevard in Muskogee where they started a tradition of good food, reasonable prices, large portions and the ambience of the 50’s style diner. There are record albums, Elvis pictures and various bits of memorabilia of the 50’s era on the walls with an old-fashioned soda counter. Folks can come in, sit down and expect great service no matter what time of day or how they are dressed. You will see businesspeople in booths next to ranchers and truckers and no one cares. There are so many Boom-A-Rangs in this area we’ve lost count, but you can rest assure that there will be more to come because what they do works.
What is it about this type of décor that works for patrons? Well, it reflects a time when we were doing well, people were prosperous, we had just come out of World War II and folks were working their way to a better life. Elvis was king and Marilyn Monroe was the beauty queen. It was a happy time and even if you weren’t born yet, you know who the pictures are on the walls and your history books fill in the rest. The ambiance reflects that time and puts the patrons in the mood for a big fat burger and fries.
It’s that attention to detail that makes for a warm, inviting place to go and relax. People want to feel important; even when they are ordering a burger and fries. Boom-A-Rang’s staff ensures that their customers feel that way each and every time they come in. The décor is relaxing and it doesn’t overwhelm people with loud, flashy overdone ambience, yet it is not pretentious or ‘snobby’. Many restaurants try to overdo with too many embellishments, loud music or pretentious décor that intimidates, but Boom-A-Rang is just that; simple fare, simple décor and great service no matter who you are or aren’t. Their food is simple fare, but it is always good, hot and made-to-order. They are notorious for their tie dye t-shirt-clad staff that is always ready to take your order, refill your drinks or help you with anything you need. The music can range from contemporary to Elvis (of course), but it is never too loud or annoying.
Our Office Manager, Bridget, put it all so succinctly when she says, “The 50’s style diner is coming back into vogue. You could say ‘its Boomeranged’ back to the way things used to be. Boom-A-Rang was ahead of their time when they came up with this idea years ago.”
While it’s true that Americans are more health-conscious, we all are ready to admit that a big ol’ greasy burger can always hit the spot and Boom-A-Rang is ready to fill the void, and if the number of patrons in a Boom-A-Rang during the lunch rush is any indication, we aren’t in danger of starving to death any time in the near future. If you feel the need to eat good food in a restaurant reminiscent of by-gone days any time between 6:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday – Saturday, there’s a Boom-A-Rang waiting to take your order and fill your need.
