We begin this month’s ride at the Hard Rock Casino in Catoosa. The Wild Potato breakfast buffet is a good place to meet and fill your tummy prior to the ride. The QuikTrip across the expressway is also a good place to fill your bike. Turn left out of the casino parking lot and right at Wendy’s, which is the old Route 66. Continue to the stop sign, turn right then left at the stoplight. We are now on our Route 66 journey.
Riding out of Catoosa our first landmark, located on the west side of 66, is the Blue Whale. The Blue Whale was built in 1970 and restored in 1997. The old Arrowwood Trading Post sits across from the Blue Whale.  As you ride into Claremore be sure to stop at Booger John’s Motorcycle Shop if you need something for your bike. Also, not far out of the way, is the Will Roger’s Museum. If you haven’t been there for a while you will be amazed at how much it has changed. The J.M. Davis Gun Museum is also in Claremore.
Continuing our journey we leave Claremore towards Foyil. D’s 66 is a good place to stop for a cold beer if you are getting thirsty. As a sidetrip four miles east on Highway 28 is Galloway Park, where a 90-foot totem pole is erected. Our ride will take us through Chelsea, Catale, and White Oak as we twist the throttle towards Vinita.
The Summerside Winery is an awesome place to stop for lunch. Enjoy the wine tasting and Bistro in a very relaxing atmosphere. Leaving Vinita we head towards Afton the home of Nutting Custom Trikes. Stop in and say hi to Doug and Mary Ann. Tell them the Janitor sent you. Across the street where the big convenience store now sits is the former location of the historic Buffalo Ranch, a popular tourist stop from 1953 to 1997. I used to love to go there as a youngster.
Continue towards Narcissa passing through Dotyville on our way to Miami (pronounced my-am-uh). Miami is home of the Route 66 Vintage Iron Motorcyle Museum. Be sure to see the Evel Knievel and Steve McQueen exhibits. Also look for Bob Ross’s (owner of The Town Pump in Tulsa) old Harley and sidecar. This is the end of our ride. Sure hope you had as much fun as I did! Now go over to the Buffalo Casino for a cold beer and some gaming fun.
